Alex Hawke MP, Federal Member for Mitchell and Chair of the House Standing Committee on the Environment today announced the opening of registrations for events during Australian Heritage Week 2014.
“Australian Heritage Week is an annual national celebration of the places, buildings, landscapes and stories of our local communities and provides a link to our nation’s heritage.” Alex Hawke said.

The Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, is encouraging young local athletes to apply for the Local Sporting Champions program.
The Local Sporting Champions program is designed to support young people participating in state, national and international level sporting championships as an athlete, coach or official.
“These grants help local teams and aspiring young athletes to realise their goals. It is a way of supporting the next generation of Australian sporting champions, said Alex Hawke.

Alex Hawke MP, Federal Member for Mitchell has encouraged local public schools to consider participating in the Coalition Government’s new $70 million Independent Public School initiative.
Alex Hawke said the Independent Public School initiative will help local government schools to become more independent by increasing their own local governance and community and parental engagement.

Alex Hawke MP, Federal Member for Mitchell, is asking all people to be alert to a recent spate of phone scams across the Hills community.
“My office has been contacted by a number of elderly members of our community who have been the subject of recent phone scams,
“I am urging everyone to be alert to these scams and remind people not to give their account details to anyone over the phone” Alex Hawke said.

Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP welcomes the announcement a new small business helpline has been established to provide small businesses with quick and stress-free access to workplace relations advice.
“Operating a small business can be very exciting, but quite difficult when it comes to understanding requirements and responsibilities under the Fair Work Act including minimum employment conditions, recording keeping and payslips,” Alex Hawke said.
