| About Alex |
|
Alex was elected at the 2007 election as the Federal Member for Mitchell, an electorate centred on the Hills Shire in Northwest Sydney. He was raised in Sydney’s North Western suburbs. Alex is currently the second youngest member of the Federal Liberal Parliamentary party and serves as the Deputy Chair of the Parliament’s Joint Select Committee on Cyber Safety. Alex also works as the secretary of the Coalition’s backbench policy committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence & Trade.
Alex is a strong advocate for reducing the size and scope of government and ensuring a reduction of red tape for businesses small, medium and large.
The Mitchell electorate is changing rapidly, with many young families moving into expanding suburbs including Rouse Hill, Kellyville, and Beaumont Hills. Failure to plan for adequate infrastructure for families in Northwest Sydney is the greatest issue confronting the Hills community.
Previously Alex has served as an Army Reserve Officer and worked as a ministerial staffer and a retail manager. His passions include Australian military history and the Parramatta Eels.
