I write regarding the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s (ABC) Q&A program which last night provided a platform for Mr Zaky Mallah to air extreme views. In particular, Mr Mallah made the following statement: “The Liberals have just justified to many Australian Muslims in the community tonight to leave and go to Syria and join ISIL because of ministers like him.”

New Measures to Strengthen Australian Citizenship

Federal Member for Mitchell, Alex Hawke MP, said the Coalition Government will update the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 so dual-nationals who engage in terrorism can be stripped of their citizenship.

The Minister for Immigration and Border Protection will be able to exercise these powers in the national interest where a dual citizen betrays his or her allegiance to Australia by participating in serious terrorist-related activities.
